AUDIENCE: beginner
8 sessions of 3 hours
This foundation course consists of eight sessions, each lasting three hours. In each session you will learn and practice new skills in an interactive setting.
Throughout this course, you will be invited to engage with your peers between sessions to put into practice the skills of self-expression and empathic listening. Additionally, suggested reading and at-home exercises will complement the course.
We will cover the following areas:
Recognizing judgments and uncovering underlying needs
Distinguishing between observation and evaluation (judging)
Connecting with and expressing feelings
The shift from strategies to needs
Formulating requests
Empathic listening
Self-connection and honest expression
The art of dialogue
Expressing gratitude and appreciation
By the end of the course, you will have learned and practiced skills in self-connection, empathic listening, and honest expression, using the 4-step model of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) developed by Marshall Rosenberg. This will support the integration of a needs-based language, fostering increased connection, clarity, and compassion in your life!
