The Vision of this program
To support the transition to a nonviolent world where people know how to connect with themselves and collaborate with each other in order to care for the whole of life. The invitation is to commit to nonviolence as the guiding force behind everything we say and do.

The Practice
In each call we will focus on practical ways to close the gap between where we are and where we want to be, so we can accelerate our movement towards the world of our dreams, as individuals and as a collective. This will include demonstrations, role-plays and the opportunity to receive personal coaching and support from Aya and the community.

Skills you will learn and practice:
* Asking fully for what we want while letting go of having to have it.
* Ever growing our inner freedom while stepping fully into interdependence.
* Reclaiming our power while nakedly revealing our vulnerability.
* Walking towards radical truth-telling while fully maintaining love.
* Not taking responsibility for other people's experience while taking full responsibility for the impact of our choices.
* Understanding other people's experience without having to agree with them.
* Persisting in asking for what we want while holding sacred everyone's choice.
* Translating protectiveness into vulnerability.
* Integrating opposing positions into principals shared by all.
* Passionately advocating for everyone's innocence/humanity without compromising truth telling.
* Understanding and acknowledging impact without defensiveness.
* Attending to power differences.
* Mourning without guilt and shame.
* Letting go of controlling the outcome while holding passionately to everyone's needs - becoming comfortable with not knowing what will be the end result. Staying away from fixing.
* Affirming everyone's mattering without having to agree with what we do not agree with.
* Making conscious transitions from one person to another to maintain and cultivate togetherness.
* Tracking - whose needs are the focus in each given moment, open loops, etc.
* Connection requests - checking for understanding, impact, togetherness.
* Solutions and agreements that include care for all, while prioritizing the needs of the people most impacted.
* And more...

Structure
In each call we will use live situations that emerge from the group to stretch beyond our comfort zone and implement theoretical NVC principles into practice.

Participants will be invited to voluntarily submit in writing, the details of a situation to which they would like to receive support in advance of each coaching call. We will choose 1-3 per situations per call to focus on. If no requests are made in advance we will work with whatever emerges in the moment.

Format
Sessions take place using Zoom, a video conferencing app. Participants can connect by webcam or by phone. There's no additional cost for the app. Those using phone will need to dial a domestic long distance number. Sessions will be recorded and made available only to the call participants for a limited amount of time. If a participant is uncomfortable with a particular segment being recorded, by request, recording for that particular segment will be suspended.

Request for Financial Contribution:
$40-$80 per call

Creating a sliding scale supports our capacity to sustain our work and continue to serve. It also helps us include those without financial capacity to participate. If you have access to resources please consider contributing at the higher end of the scale, and beyond.

At a time of economic disruption we invite you to exercise conscious choice in assessing your capacity. No one will be turned away because of lack of funds.

While we make our request for support known, we invite you to choose whatever amount you are able to contribute without risking your well-being, including zero.

Invitation to Brave Space By Micky Scott Bey Jones, June 13, 2017 "Together we will create brave space Because there is no such thing as a “safe space” We exist in the real world We all carry scars and we have all caused wounds. In this space We seek to turn down the volume of the outside world, We amplify voices that fight to be heard elsewhere, We call each other to more truth and love. We have the right to start somewhere and continue to grow. We have the responsibility to examine what we think we know. We will not be perfect. This space will not be perfect. It will not always be what we wish it to be. But… It will be our brave space together, and We will work on it side by side."
