Nonviolent Communication Online Sessions:

Deepen your skills during 12 hours and support social change in Africa. For all experience levels!

Join this online learning experience of Nonviolent Communication to master NVC and support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the training in Nigeria. Get the opportunity to learn how to cultivate compassionate communication skills and explore ways to build a more harmonious and peaceful community. 6 sessions from July to October 2024, and their recordings!

These events are designed to support the Nigerian International Intensive Training (IIT) (29-Nov to 08-Dec 2024) and its mission of promoting conflict resolution, resilience in relationships, and collaborative problem-solving. By participating in any of these sessions, you will not only enhance your own effective communication but also help all people who cannot afford paying any tuition, nor room, board & travel expenses.

Many people in Nigeria are becoming peacemakers in their communities, and yet the vast majority of them lack the resources and finances to receive formal training to advance their skills. If we can raise funds, more of them will be able to attend the Center for Nonviolent Communication’s 9-day intensive training in November 2024.

When I WANT to get someone to do something, I am often attached to my favourite strategy. Sometimes this works out. However, when it doesn't work out, I might try to get it by fighting, which none of us usually enjoys. In this situation it is helpful to take a look at my needs I am trying to meet by this strategy and open up to other options. This will support my relationship with others. I invite you to explore other options than your favourite strategy in situations like this.

There are times in our lives when we feel helpless because we can't change what is happening around us, often when we experience loss or violence. We can become bitter, angry, violent, depressive, and we have a chance to accept what is and mourn - and find our way back to life. During this session we will do an exercise about radical acceptance and mourning.

Empathy: The Practice of Radical Presence with MATTHEW RICH-TOLSMA

Often when we find ourselves caught up with trying to win an argument, with trying to prove who is right and who is wrong, we are obsessing about the past ("who did what to who, when") or the future ("how can I reach the outcome I have in mind"). As a result we often miss what is right in front of us. Empathy is not about the past or the future, rather it is about connecting to the aliveness of the living present. In this short workshop we will play with different approaches for connecting with what is alive now in our embodied experience, and explore how to playfully connect through empathic guessing to what is going on between others NOW.

Have you noticed yourself snap at someone with an angry response before even you realised you were upset? Have you noticed your heart start to race, your breathing getting shallow in the face of a situation you are facing? or you may experience yourself gasp, hit hard at an object in order to let off steam? Have you experienced yourself using painful words at someone and you realise it was too late to take those words back? These may be signs of reactivity. Are you longing for a way to be reactivity such that you are able to make conscious compassion choices in those moments? During this program, you will learn ways of recognising and transforming Reactivity into conscious compassionate responses.
