My name is Annette Lubbers. Since the early 1990s, I have been working at the intersection of communication, training and advice. Over the past thirty years I have increasingly focused on dialogue. It is the most basic form of communication we have and at the same time the most neglected. I want to change that with A Good Conversation!
A good conversation
My agency has been called Een Goed Gesprek since 2017. With a wink, it refers to the relief and joy we feel when we have had a good conversation. If we really listened, if we dared to be open, if we were clear and perhaps achieved a goal. Collaboration becomes more fun, lighter, more creative and more relaxed. In all cases it appears that a good conversation is half the battle.
The Red Thread
The common thread through my work is my focus on people and their - communicative - behavior. What moves them? What drives them apart and what unites them? I have noticed that when people can and dare to really listen to each other, contradictions begin to change, resistance melts and a new path opens up. This is often a 'third' way. An alternative route between two polarized points of view. A solution where everyone's interests matter. That third way is the way I am looking for with A Good Conversation.
Practical
I then work alone and together with others, depending on what is necessary. Customization characterizes my approach, which can be scaled from light to intensive.
My clients are often people and organizations for whom collaboration and mutual coordination are an important part of their work. Think of healthcare, education, the creative sector and the government.
Background
From 2000 to 2017, the name of my company was Annette Lubbers Communications, Journalism, and Research. In those 17 years I have done a lot of different work. For example, I carried out communications assignments for ministries on cultural education, for example, and I worked as an interim communications advisor for medical organizations, healthcare institutions, cultural organizations and municipalities. I also wrote two books during that period: one about the history of the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam and one about 40 years of higher education in the Netherlands.
Before I started my own company, I was a press officer and spokesperson at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. I worked there for ministers and state secretaries such as Hedy d'Ancona, Aad Nuis and Rick van der Ploeg. Before that, I studied French language and literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Not unimportant: I am the mother of three - now adult - children.

Mijn naam is Annette Lubbers. Sinds begin jaren ‘90 werk ik op het snijvlak van communicatie, training en advies. In de afgelopen dertig jaar ben ik me steeds meer op de dialoog gaan richten. Het is namelijk de meest elementaire vorm van communicatie die we hebben en tegelijk de meest verwaarloosde. Daar wil ik met Een Goed Gesprek verandering in brengen!
Een Goed Gesprek
Mijn bureau heet sinds 2017 Een Goed Gesprek. Met een knipoog verwijst het naar de opluchting en blijdschap die we voelen als we een goed gesprek hebben gevoerd. Als er echt geluisterd werd, als we openhartig durfden te zijn, als we duidelijk waren en misschien wel een doel bereikt hebben. Het samenwerken wordt dan weer leuker, lichter, creatiever en meer ontspannen. In alle gevallen blijkt dat een goed gesprek, het halve werk is.
De rode draad
De rode draad door mijn werk is mijn focus op mensen en hun - communicatief - gedrag. Wat beweegt ze? Wat drijft ze uiteen en wat verbindt ze juist? Ik heb gemerkt dat wanneer mensen echt naar elkaar - kunnen en durven - luisteren, tegenstellingen gaan kantelen, weerstand gaat smelten en een nieuwe weg zich opent. Vaak is dat een 'derde' weg. Een alternatieve route tussen twee gepolariseerde standpunten. Een oplossing waarbij ieders belang ertoe doet. Die derde weg is de weg die ik zoek met Een Goed Gesprek.
Praktisch
Ik werk dan weer alleen dan weer samen met anderen, afhankelijk van wat nodig is. Maatwerk kenmerkt dan ook mijn aanpak, die je van licht naar intensief kan schalen. Mijn opdrachtgevers zijn vaak mensen en organisaties voor wie samenwerken en onderlinge afstemming een belangrijk onderdeel is van hun werk. Denk aan de zorg, het onderwijs, de creatieve sector en de overheid.
Achtergrond
Van 2000 tot 2017 was de naam van mijn bedrijf Annette Lubbers communicatie, journalistiek en onderzoek. In die 17 jaar heb ik heel veel verschillend werk gedaan. Zo voerde ik voor ministeries communicatie opdrachten uit over bijvoorbeeld cultuureducatie en werkte ik als interim-communicatieadviseur voor artsenorganisaties, zorginstellingen, culturele organisaties en gemeenten. Daarnaast schreef ik in die periode twee boeken: een over de geschiedenis van het Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam en een over 40 jaar Hoger Onderwijs in Nederland.
Voordat ik mijn eigen bedrijf begon, was ik persvoorlichter en woordvoeder op het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap. Ik werkte daar onder meer voor ministers en staatssecretarissen zoals Hedy d'Ancona, Aad Nuis en Rick van der Ploeg. Daarvoor studeerde ik Franse taal- en letterkunde en Culturele Studies aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Niet onbelangrijk: ik ben moeder van drie - inmiddels volwassen - kinderen.
