Certified Trainer since 2020
Spirituality and personal growth have been central in my life all my adult years. I used to think that being ‘spiritual’ and compassionate was about only ever having kind thoughts, and I aspired to a time when no judgmental thoughts remained. I would feel distressed at the intensity of some of the ‘mean’ things I’d hear inside my own head, because they didn’t fit with the loving person I wanted to be.
I’m so grateful to Marshall and NVC for showing me that actually, these passing ‘guests’ are simply my frightened mind’s way of revealing my deepest values to me. Transforming these judgments into the precious values they’re trying to indicate, allows me to breathe easy, expand beyond my ‘small’ story, and connect again with the flow of Life in me and all. This is the most direct route I know to rehumanising myself and the ‘other’, and moving forward with clarity and compassion.
It is my greatest pleasure to support others to also live their Full, Natural selves. I was introduced to NVC in 2005. I was so blown away by its transformational impact and potential that I hungrily pursued and organised as many trainings and gatherings as possible, and almost immediately began sharing it with others with a fervent zeal that is somewhat embarrassing and kind of endearing to look back on now.
In those first few years I learned from Marshall Rosenberg and over 30 other Nonviolent Communication trainers in the US, Australia and NZ, and offered workshops and coaching for many people. In 2020 I completed my certification journey, which I had delayed until my dream of a community-based assessment had materialised. In 2009 I co-founded NVC Aotearoa, a charitable trust established for the support and growth of NVC in Aotearoa NZ, and served as chairperson for 3 years.
My lifestyle
I live in a tiny off-the-grid house in the Far North of Aotearoa New Zealand, on 12 acres of land with 7 others who are committed to the same intention as me: to show up as fully human as we can in the gloriously messy, wondrous, joyful, painful mystery of Life.
My offerings
I am committed to working with anyone who is truly willing to go into the uncomfortable places for the purpose of liberation from whatever is limiting their fullness. I will companion you with the same “compassionate rigor”, humour and reverence I bring to my own self-exploration. I offer workshops for general public, parenting, couples, service organisations, schools and family violence agencies, as well as one on one and couples coaching and NVC mediation. I'm also excited to have recently started offering Convergent Facilitation.
