Hi, I’m Rachelle. I’m in my sixties, and for as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with relationships and human behavior. Why do we do what we do? What drives us? What is freedom? What is wisdom? How does a person maintain sanity in a consumer-driven culture? What makes life worth living? I enjoy circling around the deeper questions.
And from what I can tell, we are living in perilous times. Levels of anxiety, depression, alienation, loneliness, relationship ruptures — these are all on the rise. And it’s not because there’s something wrong with us. Rather, the solid foundations required to live soundly — foundations built on intergenerational continuity and legacy, deep care for our land and ancestors, shared understanding of what constitutes maturity and responsibility, key rites of passage, dedication to the collective whole, kindness towards others — these are being eroded as western notions of “individuality” become increasingly central to our orientation to life.
Healthy relating requires that we know something about both the inner world of the human and even more importantly, the real world that humans live in and must care for in order for our planet to thrive and support human life.
