Yarrow Pospisil
Yarrow Pospisil is passionate about human connection, healing, and growth for the sake of all life. Her more than 25 years as a practitioner of Vipassana Meditation and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) have created a strong foundation for understanding how insight, empathy, and an attention to the “we” shape our relationships with ourselves and the world around us.
Since her introduction to NVC in 1996, Yarrow has experienced its life-changing power and has committed to sharing it with others. She became a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication in 2006.
Yarrow's life’s work focuses on empowering others with skills and capacities in the communication and relational arts. She is deeply committed to living a life aligned with her values and supporting others’ social-emotional wellbeing, relational resilience, authentic aliveness, and sense of belonging for the sake of the present and the future. She provides individualized NVC coaching and transformative conflict coaching, as well as group NVC training, working with individuals, couples, communities, business, and non-profit organizations.
Yarrow also holds a Certification in Embodiment Coaching and is a licensed and Certified Speech-Language and Voice Therapist. Her NVC work is also influenced by her continuing education in:
- Interpersonal neurobiology (INB) and attachment science, for a more robust understanding of the brain, the mind, and human relationships.
- Mindfulness, to increase awareness and compassionate relating, and to support clarity and conscious choosing in how we approach and navigate challenges within our relationships.
- Somatic/embodiment practices, to understand and work with the body and nervous system, supporting clarity, inner and co-regulation, and overall effectiveness during conflict and stress.
- Trauma and social justice -informed practices, to create an inclusive culture, with choice, empowerment, and trust being held as sacred aims.
- Integral theory, to support growth and consciousness toward more and more inclusive, non-marginalizing perspectives that are mutually enriching.
Yarrow resides in Bellingham, Washington, which is situated on the ancestral homelands of the Coastal Salish People. She lives with her two children, ages 12 and 14, and her dog and cat. She loves nature and community, dancing, emergent dialogue, singing, writing, yoga, and sense-making. Yarrow strives to promote equity, diversity, and a sense of belonging through the work she does. It’s part of her own mission and growth to recognize and address implicit biases, systemic inequities, and power-orientations that perpetuate for anyone a sense of powerlessness or separation.
