Task Force: Annual Renewal Process for CTs

Between October 2022 and February 2023, a global Task Force made up of 11 members of the CNVC community worked to simplify, enhance, and revitalize the annual renewal steps that Certified Trainers are asked to do each year in order to remain in active standing.

The Task Force was co-chaired by Lorna Ritchie, Certified Trainer (Germany) and Jeff Brown, Executive Director (U.S.) and included the following people (in reverse alphabetical order by first name):

  1. Susan Jennings (United States)
  2. Sam Odhiambo (Kenya)
  3. Robyn Veraart (Romania)
  4. Karin Garaialde (France)
  5. Jean McElhaney (New Zealand)
  6. Jane Zawadowski (United States)
  7. Farrah Baut-Carlier (Luxembourg)
  8. Cory Tyler (United States)
  9. Anne Dietrich (Rwanda)

Over the years, various CTs had shared that some of the language in the Trainer Agreement triggered disconnection; that not all of it was aligned with the spirit of NVC; and that many Certified Trainers signed it without reading it, experiencing it an arduous necessity rather than as something that was inspiring and that connected them to their peers.

In March 2023, we are launching our revamped process which includes:

  1. An updated Trainer Agreement with less legal language and more language of connection, and that we will sign only when it changes, not each year as an annual ritual.
  2. A new Annual Trainer Survey, replacing the old Trainer Report, which we hope will be more fun to fill out and also that will provide us with some valuable and interesting data (which we will share the results of with our CTs)

Thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to this effort!
