Marketing & Communications Coordinator

The Center for Nonviolent Communication is seeking a dynamic Marketing and Communications specialist to promote our current services and manage our communication channels. 

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will report to our Operations Director and will lead CNVC's marketing and communication efforts through two interconnected arms:

  1. Operational Marketing
  2. Content Management and Communication

This role is responsible for executing comprehensive strategies to enhance CNVC's visibility, promote its services, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to help us serve the needs of our stakeholders and become stronger at sharing Nonviolent Communication throughout the world.

Format:

This is a remote position, so you can work from anywhere in the world as long as you have reliable internet access. Travel might be involved 1-2 times per year. This will likely be a position at 30 to 40 hours per week and we estimate that 25% of your work hours will be collaborating with others at set times, and 75% working on a schedule that you set yourself.

Language:

Our international team works in English so you must be fluent with speaking, reading, and writing in English. However, we welcome people with a mother tongue other than English and in fact, it is a strength to speak more than one language since we work with people around the world. We celebrate that we are an international organization and our staff includes people from diverse cultural backgrounds and geographical locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Marketing
  • Promote current CNVC services (most notably our in-person intensive trainings) and new initiatives
  • Oversee marketing efforts, including:
    • Website management
    • Social media strategy
    • Email marketing campaigns
    • Online advertising
  • Implement inbound marketing techniques
  • Manage SEO efforts to increase organic traffic and online visibility
  • Analyze digital metrics and adjust strategies for maximum impact

Content Management and Communication
  • Create and execute a comprehensive communication editorial plan
  • Develop communication strategies to promote CNVC's work and impact
  • Produce high-quality content for various platforms (websites, social media, newsletters, press releases)
  • Create impact reports and other stakeholder engagement materials
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other teams (including Programs, Membership, and Certification) to ensure that communication efforts are coordinated and consistent throughout the organization
  • Provide marketing and communication support to organizers of our intensive trainings
  • Establish performance indicators and regularly analyze campaign effectiveness
  • Prepare and present performance reports to leadership
  • Train staff and stakeholders on communication best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications, ideally within the non-profit sector.
  • Experience in executing marketing and communication strategies.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with Nonviolent Communication

  • Communication prowess: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Project management: Ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines across various marketing channels.
  • Technical proficiency: Familiarity with digital marketing tools, CMS platforms, and basic design software.
  • Continuous learning mindset: Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and emerging marketing technologies.

Compensation and Hours:

The Marketing and Communication Coordinator will be a full-time (30-40 hours) position that will pay in the range of what you would likely earn working for a comparable NGO or nonprofit organization

For the ideal candidate, we are open to negotiating your work schedule, hours per week, and precise job duties to best match your strengths. This position will evolve over time based upon organizational needs, what you are good at doing, and what you enjoy doing.
