Tom Wilkinson
Hello, my name’s Tom. I choose to share Nonviolent Communication because it has been, and continues to be, central to my healing and empowerment and has brought more joy, peace, and connection into my life. I see being an NVC trainer as ‘peacework’, and currently offer publicly advertised workshops, organisational consulting, local practice groups and 1:1 consultations.
In these days of widespread social and environmental challenges, my hope is to find a way to contribute toward systemic change for our society; whether that be through sharing NVC with individuals looking to find a new way of relating, or working with groups and organizations looking to develop more life-serving systems.
I’m working on integrating ‘systemic lens’ content and awareness into my workshops and groups, which acknowledges the effects of our socialization depending on the groups to which we are assigned (racial, gender, age, etc.). I believe this can help us find more compassion for ourselves and others and a deeper understanding of the dynamics that might be playing out between us.
I’m also trying to bring more embodiment into my work, as I increasingly recognise how supportive working with the body is for facilitating change. Where I live in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, UK, we have three practice groups meeting weekly. I plan to offer workshops in the nearby cities of Manchester and Leeds and to continue to sow the seeds of the NVC community locally.
