How do I, as a general practitioner, specialist or physician assistant, stay well connected with myself, colleagues and patients during my work in a challenging context? How do I deal with conflicting interests in a constructive way? How do I set boundaries and stand up for myself, in a way that the other person can continue to hear me?

The philosophy and associated process model of Nonviolent Communication, developed by clinical psychologist Marshall Rosenberg, can be useful in various ways in your daily work as a medical professional. It promotes:

  • Self-connection: what do I need and what is important to me
  • Connection with patients: giving recognition, creating clarity
  • Efficiency: good coordination saves time
  • Clarity: what is essential for the patient and what can you offer and not offer in your role?
  • Preventing (escalation of) conflicts by learning to look closely at underlying needs and communicating about them, even when it is tense.

Boris Nauta (Equanimity) and Elles Bindels (VBIB) organize this training for open registrations throughout the year, but it is also given on request within your organization. Read more about the possibilities below.

This training is accredited for 12 ABAN points by the KNMG medical federation.
